Yucca The name "Yucca" is often mistakenly applied to many other plants with similar woody stems and strap like leaves. The true Yucca that is normally grown indoors is the Yucca elephantipes. They are a tough and drought tolerant plant. This does not mean they can be left to survive without care and suitable conditions. Good light and air circulation are essential if these plants are to look their best. Their leaves have very sharp points and they are not always suited to public areas. For a softer leaved alternative why not consider Beaucarnea recurvata Do not over water them. They should be allowed to dry out before each watering. Multi stemmed character Yuccas, as in this image, can be effective where architecturally striking plants are required.
